About Whitley Bay Rotary Club

History

In August 1923, under the auspices of the Rotary Club of Newcastle upon Tyne, an interesting meeting was held at the Waverly Hotel in Whitley Bay  ( now known as Rex Hotel ).  After some discussion it was proposed that a Club would be formed in Whitley Bay, to be known as the 'Rotary Club of Whitley and Monkseaton'.

Today the Rotary Club of Whitley Bay has an active social programme combined with fundraising activities and opportunities for service.

We meet on the first and third Tuesday of each month at Whitley Bay Golf Club. Our meetings begin at 7.30pm with supper served by the excellent chefs at the club. After notices, fines, a story and jokes we take a 'comfort break' and then move to the second part of the evening. This could be a quiz, a speaker or games. Our evening is usually finished around 10pm.

We extend a very warm welcome to Rotarians who are visiting Whitley Bay to enjoy fellowship with us.
