ROTARY VISIT FOODBANK AT CHRISTMAS
BACK TO THE BANK!
“I really wish that there were no foodbanks, but the reality is there is a huge demand out there”
Rev. Alan Dickinson – Chairman The BAY Foodbank
As ever at Christmas time and the festive season it is been a very busy time at The BAY Foodbank based in North Shields and serving our community in the Northeast.
So, it was lovely to be welcomed back to see Jackie and her team in frantic action as they organise the huge number of deliveries that go out each day at this particularly busy time.
So, our club Whitley Bay Rotary was there once again to make a further donation of £1,000 to help support the purchase of basic household items from toothpaste to porridge for the people of North Tyneside.
President John said; ‘I always find it fascinating to see how things are organised in the warehouse and be reminded how the Foodbank reaches out to all, with parcels packed, sorted and ready for the off, to couples, families, singles, gluten free, vegetarians, no cook for singles and the street homeless. Here, Jackie and her team think of everyone and it’s a pleasure to make another visit and donation to this worthy cause’.
