Whitley Bay Rotary - Chefs to the Rescue?????
Chefs to the rescue?...well no, not exactly, but Whitley Bay Rotary Club President Liz and Chairperson Veena from the Whitley Bay Young People’s Centre were very keen to demonstrate their cooking skills on the newly purchased Hotpoint Gas Cooker. Supporting them on the day were three young trainees – Josh, Josh and Maggie and with the help of John, Development Officer, wearing the ‘oven gloves’ in case things got too hot to handle!!
The new cooker which was recently purchased by the Rotary Club for the sole use of the Young People’s Centre which is situated behind the Ice Rink on Hillheads Road, Whitley Bay.
The Centre, a registered charity is catering for the whole community by providing a combination of outreach and building based activities; these include arts and craft activities, dance and fitness classes, gardening club, gymnastics and youth club, Tai Chi classes, baby and toddler activities and more serious topics such as drug awareness and the importance of healthy eating etc.
The centre also has a range of sporting activities with regular weekend and overnight events.
Additionally, the centre provides facilities for the local community such as room hire, which includes a large sports hall, two smaller halls suitable for workshops, a well-equipped kitchen and coffee bar, now with the newly installed Hotpoint Gas / Electric Cooker provided by the Rotary Club of Whitley Bay.

If you feel you could help at the Young Peoples Centre, then why not contact them via their Facebook page? They would be delighted to hear from you.
