In recent months the Rotary Club of Whitley Bay has been raising funds from local projects to purchase Dictionaries For Life to present as end of year gifts to our First Schools in Whitley Bay.
Before the end of the summer term and with their graduation to middle school, each final year pupil received their own named illustrated dictionary from this year's club president, Tore Skjaerstad, who said, "Whitley Bay Rotary Club, founded in 1923, has been supporting the local community for many years. I am delighted that we have once again been able to support more young people with Dictionaries For Life. I'm sure these books will be an invaluable educational reference for many years to come and will help to support the developing skills of the next generation."
This is the fourth year that the club has been able to organise this annual project and it is hoped that in future years the club will be able to present the dictionaries to all the first schools in the Whitley Bay area.
