Rotary's Dictionaries For Life Presented to Seven First Schools in Whitley Bay

In recent months the Rotary Club of Whitley Bay has been raising funds from local projects to purchase a ‘Dictionary For Life’ to present as an end of year gift to our first school leavers in Whitley Bay.

Before the end of the summer term and during the month of July, members of the club delivered to each school a present for the students upon their graduation as preparation for the move to middle school.
Each final year pupil received their own named illustrated dictionary from this year's club president, Terry Took who said, "Whitley Bay Rotary Club, founded in 1923, has been supporting the local community for many years. I am delighted that we have once again been able to support so many young pupils with Dictionaries For Life this July. This is the seventh year we have completed this project and I'm sure that these books will be an invaluable educational reference for many years to come and will help to support the developing skills of the next generation".

Fifteen club members delivered the books to each of the seven schools taking part and the club hopes it will be able to continue rewarding each of the first school leavers in the years to come.
