Rotary's Dictionaries For Life Presented to the Seven First Schools in Whitley Bay

Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the Rotary Club of Whitley Bay has been unable to make our annual presentation of dictionaries to local first schools. However, we are thrilled that the schools still wished to participate in the project and books are being delivered to the children after the summer break.

Well over 400 books will be given out to youngsters in Whitley Bay and we know from the schools that this is a very important event in each school.

One of the schools sent us the following endorsement of our work with the dictionaries project.

Good evening Brian,

Thank you for your email. This is great news and will be very well received by the children. A recent question from the Year 4 children in assembly was, 'Will we receive our Year 4 dictionaries this year?'. It demonstrates how valued they are and certainly part of the Coquet Park and local community partnership.

Please call the School Office who will be able to confirm a time for drop off and arrangements.

Perhaps we could have a virtual presentation? I have a computer and screen in the hall. Would we be able to send a Teams invite? Just a possibility. I appreciate this is not for everyone so please don't feel this needs to happen.

I am very much looking forward to a time when we can all meet in the normal way and school can be back to welcoming all visitors. Not long now ...

I hope you and the Rotary Club are well. Please pass on our thanks and thoughts to the group.  The greenhouse is looking good, still used by the children to grow seedlings.

Kind regards,

Colleen
