George Davis Cup

George Davies was a former Whitley Bay Rotarian and an accomplished watercolour artist, who before his death set up a trust fund to help support, recognise and reward the work of young artists in the North East and in particular the work of young students in our schools and colleges.
This year it was the turn of Tynemouth Sixth Form College. All the sixth formers at the college were eligible to receive the awards in the form of a certificate and cheque.
His daughter, Mrs Irene Parritt said she was delighted to make the presentation with Rotary President Richard Hart. Mrs Parritt said, "I am delighted to see such a range of talent and I’m sure my father would have approved of the eventual winners. It has been a memorable night and it is lovely to see such a great presentation from the students."
President Richard added his thanks to the staff and college for putting on the evening's reception and also his thanks to fellow Rotarian Brian Royce who had been liaising with the staff at the college these last few months.
