Pupils Argue Their Way To Victory
A team of students from Monkseaton High School who went head-to-head with Whitley Bay High School and a rival team from their own school in the Rotary Club ‘Youth Speaks’ competition have come away victorious.
Their topic ‘Money - the root of all evil?’ impressed judges and won the team award, the Rotary Gofton Cup. They will now go on to compete in the District completion in Durham in March.
The team is made up of sixth form students: Ryan Thompson 17, Beth Mackinlay 18 and Dominic Sadler 18.
This is the second time the team has competed in this event,and Dominic and Ryan run the school debating society at Monkseaton.
