Whitley Bay Rotary Welcomes New President

John Clarkson is the newly elected President of the Whitley Bay Rotary Club. John who comes from Yorkshire has lived and worked in the North East for the past 46 years. He is married to Janice and they have one daughter, Melanie who is a Wing Commander in the Royal Air Force. John is a Chartered Chemist and holds an MSc in Environmental Management and prior to his retirement was Director of Environment for Rio Tinto Alcan at the Lynemouth Aluminium Smelter and Power complex in Northumberland.

At the recent Club Assembly, newly elected President John said, "I strongly believe that we already make a difference in our local community and in the projects we manage internationally.  For this reason I do not intend to make many changes in my Presidential year, but merely build on the work started by others and encourage teamwork and flexibility amongst our members; so the theme for my Presidential year will therefore be Teamwork and Flexibility. The people of North Tyneside have generously supported us for over ninety years by helping us to raise valuable funds for all our charitable causes.  My fellow Rotarians and I are personally grateful for that and hope that such kindness can continue into the future helping to support local charities and good causes.

So, if you are involved in a local charity and are looking for support please do not hesitate to contact the Whitley Bay Rotary Club via our website and President John and the club look forward to hearing from you.
