‘Open Forum’
Last Tuesday we had an open forum instead of a visiting speaker. The idea was to allow members to ‘have their say’ about any issues, points of interest, suggestions, new ideas or even old ones!!
Seven members wanted to address a variety of issues which they thought would be of interest to club members and what an fascinating evening it proved to be.
Firstly, Peter wanted to suggest new ways to encourage faster and better communication within in our town and in particular how we might reach out to new communities that are arriving or growing in our community today.
Brian our treasurer, was anxious to discuss the cost of our Centenary celebrations later this year, and in particular the way in which the centenary was going to be advertised through floral arrangements, and other markers etc.
Garry was eager to suggest how we might improve our meetings format by varying the venue, layout and contents so they are more ‘user friendly’ and exciting!!!
Ian and Yvonne followed Brian with suggestions as to how to improve and facilitate new members and guests, and in particular the role of women who wish to join the club.
Brian our club secretary, last but not least, was keen to make suggestions and recommendations in how we could involve all of our members in the day to day running of the clubs activities in the community of North Tyneside.
So, an interesting evening to pick the bones out of and with some useful ideas to make changes and improvements, which we hope to be able to implement very soon.
