DAFT AS A BRUSH
Cancer Patient Care
LAST NIGHT AT THE PROMS
Well, what a weekend!!!
Rotary friends and partners had a great night at the Newcastle City Hall where we were supporting ‘Daft as a Brush’, a charity which supports cancer care patients in the Northeast of England and hopefully according to CEO, nationwide.
After a visit to a local Italian Restaurant, with an unspellable name, just around the corner from the City Hall, gave us time to get our mouths and throats ready, for the two hour show which followed.
This featured a variety of local acts, such as people from the Newcastle Dance Centre, the Pipe Band of 102 Battalion, the world-famous violinist Bradley Creswick, soprano Charlotte Potter, and baritone Patrick Owston, all of whom were hosted by the very funny and amusing compere, Ray Spencer MBE from the Customs House Theatre in South Shields.
In addition, singing and laughter from the lively flag waving audience, all in support of the Daft as a Brush team and its 79-year-old founder and trustee, Brian Burnie.
This is an annual fund raiser for the charity and it’s something many of us will want to support in the future. So, thanks to our organiser Garry, and hopefully this will be an annual visit next year.
