Remembrance Sunday
President Liz Hayes represented Whitley Bay Rotary Club at the annual Remembrance Day Commemoration Event in the town on Remembrance Sunday, 14 November. With other members of the club she paraded through the streets of Whitley Bay to the cenotaph at the sea front beside Spanish City. Two local priests from St Paul’s and St Mary’s Churches in Whitley Bay led the very moving Act of Remembrance and Liz placed her wreath from the Rotary Club at the cenotaph.

Afterwards, President Liz commented, “It was very special to be able to take part in this ceremony this afternoon and remember the countless people who have given their lives that we can live in peace. It was also so good to witness many young people on parade from various organisations. We must never forget the sacrifice made by so many people over the years and not just in the two world wars.”
