Rotary’s Pop-Up Shop Raising Cash For Charities Home and Abroad
A retail outlet has popped up in Whitley Bay with the aim of raising money for charities at home and abroad.
And two youngsters who have helped with funding for overseas voluntary work they are undertaking were on hand to officially open the shop.
Olivia Peacock and Eppie Beveridge have both received money from the Rotary Club of Whitley Bay to take part in volunteering projects in Japan and South Africa.
The pair opened the club’s facility at the former X-Catalogue shop in Park View shopping centre on Monday that will raise funds for people like Olivia and Eppie as well as other charity projects in the UK and abroad.
Rotary Club president Richard Hart said, "We have called the shop ‘Bag A Bargain’ and we thought it was fitting for Olivia and Eppie to open it for us as they have just received money from us to help with their volunteering plans.
We thought the shop would be a unique and different way to raise money for charity. The shop is only going to be here for one week, so grab a bargain and help us to raise some money before the shop has gone."
The ‘Bag a Bargain’ shop will be open daily in the former X-catalogue shop in Park View from Monday until Saturday, August 14th.
Items for sale will include dining room tables, chairs, coffee tables, pots and pans, jewellery, electrical goods, gardening and fitness equipment and soft furnishings.
