Park View Shopping Mall - Thank you for helping Rotary to support young people in our region
At a recent presentation in the Park View Shopping Mall Louise Carroll from 'Tiny Lives' said, "We are very grateful to The Rotary Club of Whitley Bay for choosing 'Tiny Lives' as one of their charities to support. This is the third year running and our genuine thanks must go to the Rotary Club and the shoppers in Whitley Bay, for making the gift of £400 possible. This means that we can continue to help over eight hundred families each year, whose premature baby spends time on the Special Care Baby Unit at the RVI."
In addition to supporting 'Tiny Lives', club president David Wilkinson was also delighted to be able to support 'Teenage Cancer Trust', saying, "This year we have been able to donate a further £400. This charity is the only one which is dedicated to improving the quality of life and the chances of survival for the young people who are diagnosed with cancer every day."
Zoë Hall, from the 'Teenage Cancer Trust North East' further added that, "Traditionally children were treated alongside elderly patients many of whom may be at the end of their lives. Young people then felt very isolated, perhaps never meeting another young person with cancer. Therefore, being treated alongside others their own age makes a huge difference to their whole hospital experience."
It is the aim of the Trust to support every young person with cancer to have access to this specialist support, no matter where they live.
In conclusion, Rotary would like to express their thanks to the management of the Park View Mall and the shoppers who gave so generously to make it all possible. Thank you for helping us to help others less fortunate than ourselves.
