Rotary Listens to Special Visitor – Paul Hanson

Paul Hanson is currently North Tyneside’s Deputy Chief Executive having been with the council team since 2006 as part of the leadership team and then as Director of Community Service.
Rotary President Tore Skjaerstad welcomed Paul to the club and said how the members were looking forward to hearing all the news for the future developments that were being planned in North Tyneside.
Paul then delighted club members with a selection of humorous stories and more seriously, plans being developed for the renovation of the Spanish City site and the transformation of the promenade surrounding it, the development of family housing on the coast and the ongoing improvement of coastal flood defences.
President Tore said in his summary of the evening what a delightful guest Paul had been and said, "I can see how passionate Paul clearly is about the future and development of North Tyneside and how dedicated he is to the delivery of an excellent service to us the residents and thank you for giving up your valuable time this evening, to spend time with us."
In conclusion, Past President Richard Hart offered a vote of thanks where he thanked Paul for his company and such an illuminating insight into his working life. Richard added , "I'm sorry that so many Rotarians are missing, as I'm sure they would have enjoyed listening to you as we all have tonight. I have to confess that before I arrived tonight, I studied your Linked In profile, which with your permission, I would like to share one or two points with everybody...
According to Linked In you care about: Arts and Culture, Children, Education, Environment, Health, Politics, Poverty Alleviation, and Social Services and that in particular, you would like the opportunity, of joining a non profit making board. I would add that these are all the necessary accoutrements to become a 'Rotarian'.
I noted also Paul that you had worked for the Department for Work and Pensions, South Tyneside Council and North Tyneside Council and according to your Linked In background summary you enjoy 'Working to deliver a public service...but only one step at a time'. Well, working for the government or the council, we can all understand that.
However, most interesting of all, Paul enjoys Football, Rock n' Roll, Scouting, Politics and Drama and where else but the Quadrant, could you fulfil all those ambitions in one place!!!"
Past President Richard concluded by thanking Paul for giving up your time tonight and for being a good sport.
